Invitation Letters A visa is needed to enter the United States from some countries. It is the responsibility of the individual who desires to participate in ICCF-14 to obtain their visa. This includes presentation of a passport with some expiration requirements, completion of forms required by the United States, provision of one or more personal photographs and payment of the required fees. Details on visas for entry to the United States can be found at: http://www.unitedstatesvisas.gov/. The step-by-step procedure is provided under "How to Get a Visa" at that site. For citizens of some countries, it is necessary to have a letter of invitation from the organizers of the conference. We will provide letters on an individual basis. The visa process can sometimes take months, so early application is prudent. The letters will provide the invitation to participate in ICCF-14, either as a general attendee or in some role, such as a member of the International Advisory Committee. If you need a letter of invitation, please email Robert Smith at oicresmith@aol.com In the email, kindly (a) provide specifics on your past participation in the ICCF series (if germane), (b) list some of your contributions to the field (if germane) and (c) provide any specific wording that your government requires, plus give (d) your current affiliation and (e) your position. If you are new to the field, you need send only the governmental wording (if any) and information on your affiliation and position. The information you provide will be made a part of the letter of invitation so that the immigration officials will have a clear idea of your potential for contribution to the conference. Please also provide your detailed mailing address to which the letter of invitation will be sent. Scanned copies of the signed letter can also be provided, if requested, in which case your email address is needed. Russian attendees need to complete their interviews at the US Consul prior to 30 May 2008. We urge our Russian and other colleagues to contact Bob Smith as soon as possible to ensure prompt processing of their visa applications. Because the funding of the conference will still be uncertain at the time letters of invitation are issued, none of the letters will provide information on possible support of individuals. |
